Sharman Networks today launched Kazaa v3.0, the latest version of its P2P client software, which features integration with Skype to enable users to make free internet phone calls.

"Internet telephony is a new frontier in P2P communications and a rapidly growing market," said Nikki Hemming for Sharman Networks. "The inclusion of Skype is a natural extension of the Kazaa product and of P2P."

Hemming claimed that over 300 million people have already downloaded the Kazaa application and are using P2P technology legally to purchase licensed music files, videos, games and ring tones.

"Despite narrow-minded attempts by others to stymie P2P technology through litigation, boycotts and legislation, Sharman Networks remains committed to delivering on the promise of P2P," said Hemming.

In addition to Skype, Kazaa v3.0 also offers a free blog trial through an affiliate programme with TypePad. The offering also includes improved search capabilities, enabling up to 3,000 more results per search than previously.
