SiteAdvisor is free, for the moment, and the basic service will remain so. It plans to add some premium services, including "protected search" and "protected browse" to disable clicks on sites rated red, disposable e-mail addresses to help reduce spam, and e-mail/instant messenger "link checking" to help prevent identity theft and other phishing scams.
This service isn't a cure-all, by any means. There is no way to protect people who insist on relying exclusively on the efforts of others and doing no thinking for themselves. But for those of us who are careful already, this is another tool on the bar to make our Web lives a bit easier. Give it a shot, and let me know what you think.
Disclaimer: I have no association with SiteAdvisor, apart from having done some beta testing.
