Widgets 4, now available for download for Windows or Mac OS X, also has a dock to keep the applications organized. The dock can be automatically hidden or can be attached to any side or corner of a user's monitor.

Also new is a Flickr widget that lets users view, upload and tag their images at the Yahoo photo-sharing site. And Yahoo updated the 21 widgets installed with the earlier version of the software.

Sharing files is fun Obviously, if you want to share a collection of files with your audience, then you’re probably going to use your blog as the catalyst for this. Furthermore, blogs and widgets have become synonymous with one another, so a file widget would be very appropriate, and that’s exactly what the Box Widget is. You’ve probably seen these widgets slowly popping up on blogs all over the Internet, and the good news is that it’s extremely easy to create your own. Once you get to the site, all you need to do is select the files that you want to upload and start with, provide your e-mail address and a password for your account creation, and then upload the content to get the code for your widget. The widget itself is very attractive, and you can even preview files such as images and audio straight from the widget without even needing to download them! This is definitely the killer feature.

CD, DVD, MP3. Ogg, MPEG, Streaming. DivX, AVI, WMV. With the manifold formats and codecs for audio and video, no one player can handle them all. But VLC can handle most of them. This open-source player can handle almost anything you throw at it (the notable exception being Real files). Its clean, no-nonsense interface doesn't distract from what you want to see and hear. VLC (formerly VideoLan Client) already has most of the video codecs you might need, so if your usual player can't deal with a file, chances are good that VLC can do the job.

Gmail drive is a service that creates a virtual hard drive folder on your Windows system, accessible through “My Computer”, that allows you to store files in your Gmail email account. The current Gmail storage limitation is 2 gigs.

PICNK is a really slick piece of Webware for tweaking and editing photos. You can pull in photos from any URL or upload them from your home computer. There are a variety of basic photo editing tools like cropping, resizing, red-eye correction, and a handy auto-fix button to make a picture look better without fussing around with each setting.

When you're done tweaking your photo you've got a few options. You can save it to your hard drive, print it, e-mail it or even publish it if you've authorized Picnik to sync up to your online photo service. Picnik lets you use a number of photo hosting services like Flickr, ImageShack and PhotoBucket. Also cool is the ability to send your photo to Costco Photos
