KidZui is in the business of making an alternative browser for kids. What is amazing about this kids product is that it is geared towards the child. The browser interface is something that I am sure any 4 year old will like Their other huge selling point in my eyes is that instead of limiting the websites that they feel are negative or could be deemed inappropriate, the took the opposite approach. They have white listed sites that they feel are of good value for kids and parents. Their reviewers are “trained parents and teachers” so that makes me feel good about the filtering.

Ghost

Ghost G.ho.st

is a "virtual computer," as the company calls it. Hosted at Amazon Web Services,
it's designed to be everything you need from a computer, except it's
not on your computer. You get a file system (with 5GB of storage for
free), a media player, and links to some apps. For example, if you want
to edit a word processing file, you can launch it into Thinkfree or Zoho.

The fact that Ghost doesn't come with a bunch of its own apps is the
key to this product, and what makes it more like an actual OS than many
other Web-based OS experiments I've seen. The design goal of Ghost is
that it acts as the clearinghouse for all your Web app accounts,
letting you shuffle data between them. For example, if you have a
document in Zoho Writer and want to edit it in Google Docs, Ghost will make the transition automatic. If you want to drag a file from your Flickr account into your Ghost file store, and later to an e-mail, Ghost will do that, too.

Trulia (Real Estate search)

Pidgin is an instant messaging program for Windows, Linux, BSD, and other
Unixes. You can talk to your friends using AIM, ICQ, Jabber/XMPP, MSN
Messenger, Yahoo!, Bonjour, Gadu-Gadu, IRC, Novell GroupWise Messenger, QQ,
Lotus Sametime, SILC, SIMPLE, MySpaceIM, and Zephyr.

Pidgin can log in to multiple accounts on multiple IM networks
simultaneously. This means that you can be chatting with friends on AIM,
talking to a friend on Yahoo Messenger, and sitting in an IRC channel all at
the same time.

Just as you can use Open Office or WordPerfect or some other program to open .DOC files, you can use a different program to create or open PDFs. The recommended free alternative to Adobe Reader for XP users is Foxit Reader for Windows and the current version is 2.2. ZoomIt is screen zoom and annotation tool for technical
presentations that include application demonstrations. ZoomIt runs
unobtrusively in the tray and activates with customizable hotkeys to
